The team takes a much-needed break, and come back to find a new letter from Mother Nature.
She tells them to go to Komodo National Park and
just relax. But then, when they least expect it, there is a strange attack.

Komodo National Park

Komodo National Park is in Indonesia and is considered one of the new seven wonders of the world. It is most well-known for its conservation of Komodo dragons, however it also contains rich marine biodiversity, beautiful landscapes, and even pink beaches.

The park comprises three main islands, Komodo, Padar, and Rinca, and twenty six smaller ones. Here you can find savannah and dry vegetation, as well as pristine beaches and vibrant coral reefs. The climate is hot and arid, which is perfect for the animals that live here.

Again, this national park is famous for and named after its population of Komodo dragons. There are around 5,700 that live here, and it is the only place they inhabit in the entire world. These creatures are fascinating to scientists and tourists alike. But they aren’t the only one. The park is also known for its incredible marine biodiversity and coral reefs. Nutrient-rich water upwells from the Indian Ocean and creates the ideal conditions for these species to thrive. There are over 1,000 species of fish, 260 species of corals, 70 species of sponges, and 14 species of sharks. Some notable ones include duyongs, green sea turtles, whale sharks, and the ocean sunfish. Apart from the marine life there are some terrestrial species here, although not many.

Fun facts! Komodo Island is typically believed to have been formed about 1 million years ago. The komodo dragons hunt some of the wild animals that live there such as deer and even water buffalo. Lastly, Even though most of the islands are savannahs, there are still remnants of rainforest and bamboo.

Some of the people who currently live within the islands of the park are descended from convicts who were exiled to the island. They were prisoners of Burma and were forced to live among the dragons who would often kill them. Now, several of them are fishermen, alongside the nomads and other groups. There are Muslim, Christian, and Hindu people all living here. The national park was established in 1980 in order to conserve the komodo dragons. It is located in Indonesia, which has a diverse and well-mixed culture.

Komodo National Park is a unique and astonishing place.
